UPGRADES FOR SEVERAL OF THE
ISLAND'S PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS
The CYPRUS SPORTS ORGANISATION is actively encouraging sports by actively promoting several of its sports facilities across Cyprus. As a result, it has recently focused its efforts on promoting the use of each city’s major public swimming pools and public community facilities across key districts all over the island.
Seen as an investment in health, youth, and the future of sports in Cyprus, the CYPRUS SPORTS ORGANISATION intends to extend its swimming pool program across the island. In light of this, several local municipalities are constantly upgrading these facilities in renewed efforts to promote their use across the island. It also intends to provide extra support for local swimming clubs, and with this in mind, it is actively investing in facilities that include swimming pools across Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, and Paphos.
NICOSIA DISTRICT
Nicosia Swimming Pool: This Olympic-sized swimming pool, which is one of the most revered in Cyprus, is located in the Ayios Andreas area of central Nicosia. Featuring an 8-lane Olympic-size pool alongside children’s pools, a cafeteria, and green lawns, this facility has recently benefited from the construction of a new service building and the installation of a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system. Plans also include the remodelling of the interior space along with a series of energy upgrades. These new improvements ensure that the pool will meet modern standards for decades to come and mark an important step towards introducing modern, sustainable facilities for the public to use.
