The festival reflects the traditions, culture and history surrounding wine production across the island. the festival also celebrates the significance of wine in Cypriot life, helping promote the local wine industry.

Initially, the festival was a modest affair that focused on local wineries and their products. However, over the years, it has evolved, becoming a grand celebration, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world. Coinciding with the grape harvest, the festival typically takes place in September and usually spans over ten days. This allows for ample time for visitors to partake in all of the festivities that it offers.

A FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE

During the festival, visitors can sample a wide variety of wines produced by local wineries. These include the famous Commandaria. The sweet dessert wine is closely associated with the Crusaders, who once ruled the island. The event also features traditional Cypriot food, music, and dancing, creating a festive atmosphere, highlighting the island’s rich culture.
