A WELCOMING SPACE IN THE HEART OF THE CITY
Open 24 hours a day, the completely free Molos Promenade is a versatile and well-loved public space. Located in the heart of the City of Limassol, it is also known as the Molos Park. This coastal landmark stretches over one kilometre along the western side of the Limassol seafront. It starts at the Enaerios area, and then stretches all the way to the old Port by the Limassol Marina. Seamlessly blending green lawns with modern architecture, the award-winning urban park also offers some stunning scenic views of the Mediterranean Sea from its central pier.
This popular coastal public space also serves by offering a whole host of recreational activities throughout the year. These include walking, biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, swimming, picnicking, and fishing. The promenade also features an open-air public gym with public water fountains. There is also a series of dedicated children’s play areas.
Its dedicated skate park is flanked by a series of dedicated lanes. These feature both a paved pedestrian walkway alongside a separate, continuous cycling and rollerblading track. The wooden piers and sleek wooden decks that extend straight over the sea act as popular walking spots, backdrops for photographs, and other activities, such as fishing. Several cafés offer a range of seaside seating, refreshments, and dedicated work-friendly spaces. The immediate coast surrounding the area is also popular for swimming. Some of the water sports offered also include kayaking. The surrounding sculpture park features a permanent open-air collection of up to 20 contemporary structures. These have been crafted by prominent local and international artists, and include the famous ‘Frozen Wave’ sculpture by Victor Benato.
THE MOLOS INFORMATION PANELS
The state-of-the-art, electric-free, innovative information panels, which are found along the promenade, generally provide QR codes that offer local advice. Once scanned into smartphones, they supply an array of local information and several recommendations for activities in and around the Limassol district. Their smart building interfaces also promote health and wellness by removing pollutants from the air.
These information panels effectively reduce levels of PM2.5, NOx, O₃, and VOCs in the air without producing any secondary pollution. This makes them ideal for both sterile and public environments. They do this by first detecting, analysing, and then responding to elements of airflow. The panels automatically use advanced sensors to first gather data that determines both the volume and composition of chemicals in the airflow. They then take the necessary measures to remove all pollutants using revolutionary ‘theBreath® technology’. The automated process then constantly purifies the air without any further physical interaction.
