MAJOR WINTER FESTIVALS & EVENTS
The month of November represents a transition from traditional autumn harvest fairs to the opening of the island’s famous Christmas festive holiday markets that run all the way through to January. The cooler autumn weather brings with it the vibrant celebrations of a mix of traditional mountain harvests, major performance arts, high-energy endurance sports, and several other traditional village seasonal, cultural, and musical festivals throughout the island. In light of this, several traditional mountain villages hold dedicated harvest celebrations that honour local agricultural products that are centred on mountain produce, heritage spirits, and the November wine harvest. This allows all visitors to experience authentic island culture, sample local delicacies, and enjoy free samples and tastings. Other festivals that celebrate produce, such as apples, olives, wine, and grape-derived delicacies, also take place during this month.
