WHAT'S ON AT CYPRUS CINEMAS
A CYPRUS CINEMA GUIDE
GREAT CINEMA OPTIONS
This Cyprus cinema guide features the island’s two main multiplexes that maintain a presence in every city in Cyprus. These cinemas generally offer regular screenings of the latest international blockbuster films that are often screened in their original format with the addition of subtitles. Other special screenings, however, often include completely different language formats. With this in mind, it is highly advisable to check schedules before arrival. Some cinemas also screen special 3D screenings, whilst others have special weekend premieres. With this cinema guide, going to the cinema in Cyprus could not be easier.
GOING TO THE CINEMA IN CYPRUS
Several smaller independent cinemas in more rural areas also offer regular screenings of various films, although they generally tend to screen more independent local and international specialised films. These include small boutique village theatres, art-houses, university cinema clubs, and rural cultural centres. Some of these venues also offer open-air screenings of various films throughout the summer. In addition to this, some local municipalities, in collaboration with other cultural organisations, often host various film festivals throughout the year.

PRACTICAL TIPS
Here are some practical tips for visiting Cyprus cinemas, including ticketing, showtime patterns, concessions, and language options.
Ticketing & how to book
In Cyprus, most cinemas use either local ticketing websites or app partners. These are often tied to the cinema brand, or each cinema’s own ‘Book Tickets’ or ‘Showtimes pages’. Most cinemas release schedules a few days to weeks ahead. As weekend evening screenings sell out faster, it is advisable to book them earlier.
Showtime patterns
Cyprus cinema schedules often follow common patterns. These include weekdays that offer more conventional evening showings that commonly start around 6.00 or 8:00 p.m. Earlier matinees plus more prime-time slots exist over the weekends, especially for the bigger releases, which may have one or more premier screenings with additional showtimes.
Concessions
Most cinemas offer ‘Combo deals’, which include a ticket, drink, and snack. These, however, sometimes have to be pre-ordered or reserved. Popular items, such as larger popcorn sizes, may also sell out closer to showtime, so they are worth grabbing early. In addition to this, concession lines can be long at peak start times, so it is advisable to arrive early.
Language options
Multiple listings of the same film often exist because of different formats. Although most screenings are shown in the original language format, with the addition of Greek subtitles, others may be shown with different dubbed languages or subtitle labels. This is dependent, however, on the film and the theatre. With this in mind, most screenings are descriptive and will typically say ‘English original format’, or ‘Greek subtitles’. or have a similar descriptive wording.
