WHAT IS A SEGWAY?
A Segway is a fun-to-ride self-balancing, two-wheeled upright battery powered scooter. Segways are very easy to ride and omit zero emissions making them environmentally friendly. This popular mode of transport is the most efficient way to experience a city in a limited amount of time.

A VERSATILE DEVICE
Segways have a maximum speed of 20km per hour. This means that they are subject to the same laws that govern bicycles. Segways are very versatile and have all terrain tyres. This menas that they can easily negotiate footpaths, grass, or even muddy tracks. Â
THE SEGWAY STATION
Located in the old town of Nicosia, the Segway Station was set up to bring the Segway tour experience to the city. It can be found on the corner of a small street, lined with various lovely craft shops. The facility offers a relaxing café area with free Wifi that visitors can use before and after each tour.
GUIDED TOURS
The Segway Station was set up for visitors wanting to tour the city without getting tired. It currently provides several guided tours. These offer people a fun and easy way of travelling around the city. Guided tours take in all of the major sites and places of interest in the city. They also allow participants to see parts of the old town that would usually be missed on foot.Â
SEGWAY RULES
The Segway Station advocates strict safety rules. Smoking and the use of mobile phones, whilst riding, are strictly prohibited. Segways also have weight and height restrictions for riders. All riders must weigh between 40 kg and 115 kg. All riders have to wear flat shoes. The minimum age for a Segway tour is 14 years old. Anyone rider under 16 years old must be accompanied by adult. The minimum height for a rider is set at 140cm.Â

BASIC INSTRUCTION

A CITY DIVIDED
Nicosia is a city rich in culture. It is the historic capital of Cyprus and the largest largest city on the island. Nicosia currently remains as the only divided city in the world. A dividing line cuts through the city creating a border between the illegally occupied Turkish north and the internationally recognised Greek south.Â
A HISTORICAL CITY
The City of Nicosia has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. The first settlement was formed from people fleeing devestating sea-faring raids on coastal towns. Several civilisations have since left their mark on the city. Nicosia has also been known by various names. These have included the Kingdom of Ledra, Lefkothea, meaning ‘White Estate’, later became Lefkosia, and then eventually Nicosia.Â

SEVERAL THINGS TO SEE
The City has been the administrative centre of the island since the late 12th century. There are several administrative buildings to see, as well as several historical landmarks. These include the infamous star shaped walls and several art galleries and museums.Â
TWO TOUR OPTIONS
There are essentially two types of tour available. Both allow riders to efficiently pack in way more sightseeing than they would on foot. The first takes around two hours to complete. The other option is a three hour tour. Both tours incorporate the old town and cover a great deal of ground in a short space of time. All routes negotiate picturesque winding streets and are designed to cover as many points of interest as possible.Â

LOCAL LANDMARKS
The guided tours take riders past a number of local landmarks. They also take in several historical sites of interest, galleries, art and craft centres and museums. They also include a myriad of local shops selling bespoke goods. Both tours highlight some remarkable historical architecture and the harrowing green line with its imposing guard towers and check points.Â
A LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
The knowledgeable Segway guide offers a brief overview of the history of each place visited. The guide will also offer several interesting insights of any particular subject at each stop. These guides are also available to answer any questions or offer advice. They will also be available to take both individual and group photos for all riders.Â
