Lady's Mile Beach In Limassol Cyprus

AN BEAUTIFAL UNSPOILT COASTLINE

ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SANDY BEACHES IN LIMASSOL

Stretching approximately up to 8 kilometres along the eastern side of the Akrotiri Peninsula, Lady’s Mile Beach is the longest and one of the most popular sandy beaches in the Limassol district. Although this beach offers a complete coastal stretch of stunning, unspoiled sands, with shallow, crystal-clear, calm waters, the shallowest sections are found at the southern end of the beach. This is where seashells litter the dark grey sands that turn a golden-brown colour. All Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, and umbrellas. Lifeguards with lifesaving and first aid equipment are stationed at the beach from April through to October. The beach is well-known locally for its restaurants serving fresh fish and traditional Cypriot cuisine. Some of them also offer their own additional facilities that include water inflatables and games for children.

NAMED AFTER A HORSE CALLED 'LADY'

This public beach, which lies within the British Sovereign Base area, adopted its name during British colonial rule. This is when it was often referred to as ‘Lady’s Mile’. This is when a local British governor rode his favourite mare, aptly named ‘Lady’, along the long, flat stretch of sand every morning while he was stationed on the island.

THE AKROTIRI SALT LAKE

The Akrotiri Salt Lake is situated approximately 1.5 km away from the seashore. This significant wetland attracts migrating birds, including flocks of vibrant pink flamingos and herons during the winter months. Further south of Lady’s Mile is the unspoiled area of Button Beach, where small coastal dunes have grown. The interesting Holy Monastery of St. Nicholas of the Cats – built in 365 – is also located nearby.
