A FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE
A new ‘Park and Ride’ initiative, servicing the western suburbs of Limassol, is now fully operational. The new scheme is actively encouraging uptake and involves the use of free shuttle services to and from Limassol’s city centre. The main aims of the initiative is to further reduce traffic congestion and alleviate pressure on parking facilities within the city. The service is squarely aimed at employees and students, commuting to and from areas west and northwest of Limassol. This new service follows the success of other similar scemes, first launched back in 2020 from other parts of the city. Â
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The new initiative operates on the basis that drivers park their cars in designated car park areas. They then transfer to a free regular bus that follows a circular route, servicing the city centre. The scheme as a whole has been touted as an important tool for future traffic management. The car alternative offers both a robust and convenient way to commute that significantly reduces traffic congestion and competition for parking spaces.

The parking facility for the new initiative is located next to the Alphamega Stadium in the village of Kolossi.
There are four main bus routes in operation comprehensively linking the car park with these main parts of the city centre.
Route 23: My Mall Shopping Centre
Route 23A: The Old Hospital Station
Route 33: The Limassol Marina
Route 18: The Central Hospital
The following regional routes to various villages have also been incorporated into the scheme
Route 40: Omodos, Pachna, Ayios Ambrosios, Kanto, and then Limassol
Route 70: Pissouri, Avdimou, Kandamos, and then Limassol
Route 71: Prastio, Avdimou, and then Limassol
