Ed Sheeran Performs in Larnaca Cyprus

ED SHEERAN PERFORMS AT THE LAND OF TOMORROW EVENTS VENUE IN LARNACA

THE BIGGEST MUSIC CONCERT EVER ON THE ISLAND
One of the biggest and boldest music concerts Cyprus has ever seen saw thousands of revellers attend at the Land of Tomorrow events venue in Larnaca. The Grammy award-winning artist performed hit after hit at the seaside venue, setting a new benchmark for staging one of the largest musical concerts ever held on the island. The sell-out dates formed part of the superstar’s acclaimed European leg of his ‘Mathematics’ world tour that saw thousands of local Cypriots, local British expats and a huge influx of tourists from all over the world arrive to witness the spectacle.

AN AUDIENCE FROM AROUND THE WORLD

The event attracted fans from as far as Mexico, Peru, the USA and Japan and both concerts opened with Callum Scott, who also joined the headliner for a duet on their final night in Larnaca. The concerts also featured elaborate stage design, pyrotechnics, and state-of-the-art sound systems, setting a new standard for live performances in Cyprus. Some fans arrived at the venue as early as 6 am to secure prime viewing spots and Sheeran did not disappoint, performing hit after hit, whilst highlighting his musical versatility, often accompanying himself with his looper, guitars, and electronic keyboards.

AN UNEXPECTED TURN OF EVENTS

Drama took over when Ed Sheeran injured his finger during the first of his two well-rehearsed shows, forcing the superstar to adapt his setlist during his first performance. The unexpected turn of events meant that he had to receive some first aid after he cut his finger open during one of his sets. Although slightly unsettled by the incident, he quickly introduced his first aid assistant and then sat down and began performing his massive hit single ‘Thinking out loud’, asking fans to sing along as his wounded finger was patched up.

DEDICATION & PROFESSIONALISM

Sheeran did not let the injury faze him and after his brief treatment, he announced with an added touch of humour that he would have to play the rest of the show with just three fingers instead of four. Huge cheers from the crowd, who promptly recognised his determination to carry on despite his injury, then greeted him with further plaudits for the singer’s dedication and professionalism.

A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

Local authorities reported smooth operations despite unprecedented attendance, with no significant issues during the arrival or departure of thousands of concertgoers. Sheeran himself was said to be very happy with both concerts, hinting that there would be more in the future. The huge success of the two shows, following on from a one-night-only show, featuring Sir Tom Jones means that Larnaca will see several more top music artists following the superstar’s example, firmly putting Cyprus on the map for world music concerts.
