The newly formed Akamas municipality continues its work on the longest coastal pedestrian walkway on the island and plans to complete the entire project that starts in the Peyia area of Paphos in the coming months. Partly funded by the European Union, the walkway is a €2.5 million urban development project that will span 14 km from Potima Bay to St. George’s Harbour on completion. The 2 km stretch of the first phase of the project is now complete, and this section features an amphitheatre, an outdoor gym, basketball courts, a kiosk, and several playgrounds. Local shopkeepers have since reported increasing numbers visitors to the completed section of the walkway.
