The Cyprus Thalia Program is an initiative that aims to improve and modernise the local environmental and digital landscape in Cyprus. The project aims to put a series of local developments in place. These developments are designed to create increased employment opportunities and improve social integration of residents across the island.
The European Union is providing €969 million of the €1.8 billion that has been set aside for the program. This is the largest European Union subsidy that Cyprus has received since joining the bloc in 2004. The remaining funds will come from the national budget. The Cyprus Thalia Program is expected to be made up of up to 160 smaller planned projects. These projests aim to boost the island’s GDP by an overall 6% and create over 8,500 new jobs by 2029.
