€1.8 BILLION SET ASIDE FOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN CYPRUS

THE CYPRUS THALIA PROGRAM

The Cyprus Thalia Program is an initiative that aims to improve and modernise the local environmental and digital landscape in Cyprus. The project aims to put a series of local developments in place across the island. It is envisaged that investments from the project will create increased employment opportunities. The project also aims to improve the social integration of all residents across the island.

EUROPEAN & LOCAL FUNDING

The Cyprus Thalia Program is expected to be made up of up to 160 smaller planned projects. It is estimated that these projects will help to boost the island’s GDP by an overall 6%. It is envisaged that the project will also create up to 8,500 new jobs by 2029. The European Union is providing the bulk of the €1.8 billion that has been set aside for the program. This is the largest European Union subsidy that Cyprus has received so far. The national budget will provide the rest of the fundsing for the project.
