USING BOLT IN CYPRRUS
A few practical tips for using Bolt
A quick setup
- Download and then install the Bolt app on a smartphone.
- Allowing location permissions during installation will enable the app to estimate pickup time accurately.
- Verifying the phone number and adding a payment method.
- Certain entrances and side streets can be tricky in Cyprus, so set a clear pickup spot that includes a street building number and, where necessary, use a landmark.
Ordering a taxi
- Open the Bolt app and select the ‘ride taxi’ option.
- If the app does not automatically pick up the location, enter it manually by tapping the map marker to drop a pin.
- A phrase such as ‘outside the main entrance’, or ‘at the bus stop’, or ‘near the pharmacy’, can also be added to help the driver find the exact spot.
- Enter your destination
- Confirm the vehicle type and request.
Ordering food
- Open the Bolt app and select the ‘Food’ option.
- Choose a restaurant and then select the required food items
- Proceed to checkout after entering the delivery address. This can be done manually by dropping a pin on the map.
- For apartments, always include block, floor, and apartment number. Use the most specific description possible, as couriers will respond better
- Pay and track the courier using the app.
Best practices to avoid delays
- Always make sure that you are located near the pin location for pickup or delivery.
- If waiting in a gated area, such as a hotel, resort, or private compound, include the exact meeting point in the description. This could be the lobby, main door, or gatehouse.
- If a driver is waiting at a confusing spot, use the in-app chat or call option to make direct contact.
- If the app doesn’t show your area, ensure that the location services are switched on.
- When and where necessary, enter the address manually instead of relying only on the pin.
- If the Food or Ride options do not appear, they may be temporarily unavailable in that area.
