A pilot food waste management programme is soon to be launched by the Paphos Municipality after it was unanimously approved at a recent session of the Paphos municipal council. This social welfare programme will aim to help people that are facing economic difficulties whilst reducing food waste helping sustainability for the environment by saving food from landfill and instead giving it away to the needy on a daily basis.
The program will organise authorised collections of excess food from several food outlets, such as restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and bakeries from all over Paphos and then redistribute food to families in need on a daily basis from designated distribution centres.
