General Parking Rules For Drivers In Cyprus

WHERE TO LEGALLY PARK!

Parking in Cyprus is available in both free and paid formats, and there are several public, private, and street parking options available for drivers. Free parking is common on the outskirts of most towns and cities and in smaller villages, near restaurants and most shopping areas. Paid parking is often found in city centres, using parking meters or ticketed machine systems. Double Yellow Lines prohibit both parking and waiting at all times. Single Yellow Lines allow for loading and unloading goods or passengers, but also prohibit parking at all times. Parking on a single or double yellow line may result in an on-the-spot fine.

Free Parking: Unmarked roads are available almost everywhere, but attention should be given to road signs, markings, and regulations. These spaces generally have no signage and are unmarked with no restricting lines. Large malls and some stores also offer free parking to customers on-site.

Paid Parking: Common in and around most towns and city centres, paid street parking is available in designated spaces and often can be paid for using parking meters or ticketed machine systems. Some schemes also accept payment using SMS, but this is not widespread. These marked spaces normally operate from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm, Monday to Friday, but they do become free after 7.00 pm on weekdays, and on weekends and public holidays. Blue badge holders can park in these spaces or any designated blue bay for an unlimited time free of charge. Municipal and private car parks are also widely available in and around most towns and city centres, and these are managed by municipalities or by private organisations. Some offer additional services like security and video surveillance.
